The Indianapolis School of Ballet presents Coppélia

Indianapolis School of Ballet is excited to announce it’s upcoming spring performances of Coppélia, a high-spirited ballet for all ages. The full-length production can be seen on May 20 & 21 at The Toby on the beautiful grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at indyballet.org, or by calling 317.955.7525. Special pricing is available for students and seniors.

Coppélia is considered one of the greatest comic ballets of the 19th century by E.T.A. Hoffmann, also famous for The Nutcracker. The ballet tells the story of an eccentric toymaker who crafts a life-like doll named Coppélia. Confusion and tension sets between Franz and Swanilda, betrothed and soon to be married, when he flirts with Coppélia. The ballet is inspired with many humorous moments and events that inevitably lead to a grand celebration and a happy outcome.

Indianapolis School of Ballet’s production of Coppélia is an iconic three-act ballet. The ballet will feature prominent principal dancers including Kristin Young, Nashville Ballet, Chris Lingner, Cincinnati Ballet, and Paul Vitali. Young, alumni of the Indianapolis School of Ballet, will dance the role of Coppélia, and Lingner, who’s danced on many occasions with ISB, will dance the role of Franz, a local boy who becomes enthralled by the sight of Coppélia. Vitali will reprise his role of Dr. Coppélius.
