Have you heard of Carmel’s newest indoor kids’ gym? Our family was recently invited to a birthday party at We Rock the Spectrum (WRTS), and I’m so glad we discovered this place! We loved our experience at the party so much that we scheduled a time to visit again with friends the following week.

Fun for All Abilities
The WRTS slogan is “Finally, a Place Where You Never Have to Say I’m Sorry,” which speaks to their very welcoming atmosphere that accommodates all types of children. The play area provides unique equipment that is specifically designed to aid children with sensory process disorders while children of all abilities enjoy the space together. There’s nothing better than feeling comfortable and accepted, especially when the whole family is involved.
What to Expect at We Rock the Spectrum
So, what’s inside this amazing gym? WRTS pretty much thought of and included everything that all kids will love! In the lobby, there is an impressive fish tank that is perfectly situated to keep children occupied while caretakers check in and fill out waivers. This area also includes “The Rock Shop” full of merchandise and fun toys for purchase.
After filling out waivers and visiting with the fish, we dropped our shoes and coats off in cubbies and headed into the Infant & Toddler area. It includes playmats, hula hoops, a swing, slide, toys, and more for WRTS’s younger visitors. From there, we passed through a lovely area with tables, chairs and bean bags for coloring, reading or arts and crafts. Two special rooms, the “Calming Room” and “Therapy Room”, are adjacent to the arts and crafts space.
Our boys were ready for some interactive fun so we made our way to the “Imagination Station” which is a hallway full of different playsets: a grocery store, veterinarian’s office, play tent, gym equipment and dress-up clothes to name a few. They really loved playing with all the different emergency vehicles while dressed up as firefighters.
The fun continued around the corner from Imagination Station with areas to climb, run, jump, and spin. There are climbing walls and a large gym area with lots of specially-designed sensory equipment: a zip slider (the biggest hit for us!), slide, crash pit, trampoline, tunnel, various swings, monkey bars, and more. Our kids had a ball bouncing back and forth between the playground equipment and the imaginative play area over and over. There is also a wonderful music room that we didn’t have time to visit this time around!

Cost + Services
Open play at WRTS is for kids of all ages. Each visit costs $16 for two hours of play and siblings are discounted at $14 an hour. Multi-visit packages and monthly memberships are also available for families who love to frequent the gym. When visiting the website, I learned there is also a location in Merrillville for any of our readers who live near the region!
After visiting with my three year old and friends, we all agreed that WRTS will be added to our rotation of play places to visit regularly. We hope you can visit soon, too!
