Things to do for Mother’s Day in Indy

Mom. Mother. Mama. Mamacita. Whatever the name is of your favorite momma, she deserves a little love on her special day. Mother’s Day arrives THIS Sunday, May 8th and Indy sure knows how to fete those moms. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite must-dos-with-mom just in time to celebrate.

Enjoy the Holiday Brunch Buffet at Market DistrictFeaturing everything from crepes and omelettes made-to-order to Market District’s signature french toast, the Mother’s Day brunch offers something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Complimentary rose will be served to all moms, too! Kids 4 and under are free.

Spend Mother’s Day Weekend at the Zoo with tasty treats and a Mother’s Day photo opportunity located along the main pathway. Special Mother’s Day coloring sheets will be available for little ones to decorate from 11am-2pm. All regular Zoo activities will be open. {May we recommend popping by to see the Zoo Babies?}

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a delicious brunch buffet at Conner Prairie. After brunch, venture outdoors to enjoy springtime across their acres and acres of interactive awesomeness.

We hear this is already sold out but put this on your list for next year: Indulge in a spectacular Mother’s Day brunch at the Indianapolis Propylaeum, an organization dedicated to preserving and cultivating arts and education. The menu for this historic and beautiful setting can be found online and reservations are required.

Take a gondola ride: Old World Gondoliers is kicking off their spring season just in time for Mother’s Day. Let mom be serenaded in Italian by a singing gondolier as she is transported to Venice on the Canal. Book a 30-minute public boat ride at 1, 3, 5 or 7pm for $25/pp plus tip.

Celebrate a day early! On Saturday, May 7th, preschoolers and their parents are invited to a special yoga class. Enjoy the health benefits that yoga offer during this 45-minute program presented by certified yoga instructors from the Greater Indianapolis YMCA.

(Baseball) Diamonds are a mom’s best friend this Mother’s Day at Victory Field — downtown Indianapolis’ gem of a ballpark. Moms and their loved ones need only to sit back, relax and enjoy an afternoon of special promotions, activities, offers and… baseball of course.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, read about becoming an expert grandma sitter in How to Babysit a Grandma followed by Mom Schoolit’s a special Mother’s Day-themed storytime at Barnes and Noble at The Shops at River Crossing. In Mom School a little girl imagines where her mom picked up all her amazing skills, like fixing a bike tire and baking cupcakes. Storytime will conclude with card making for your favorite mom.

And last but not least, consider cooking mom her favorite meal. Green BEAN Delivery offers to bring the farmers market to mom – organic produce and natural groceries {free of charge} delivered directly to Indy residents’ doorsteps. Snag your gift card for mom here or use your own ingredients; either way, it’s a win.
