Tuttle Orchard Sunflower Maze _ Indy's Child

The Tuttle Orchard Sunflower Maze is open through Friday, or as their website notes “after if blooms continue.”IC Insider Luis visited with his kiddos last week and they had a blast! Read more. Cost is $4/person. Kids 2 and under free. Hours for the maze run Mondays-Fridays 11am-6pm and Saturdays 9am-6pm. Closed Sundays.

IN Light IN = Indianapolis Light Festival on the Downtown Canal

August 26-27

A FREE, two-day interactive light festival with more than 20 site-specific art installations and programs, live music, night paddle boat rentals on the Canal, food and drink options and more. Indy Film Fest and Pattern Indy will also be in the house providing more entertainment for the lineup. Again: FREE.

Indy's Child Cover Model2nd Annual Indy’s Child Back To School Bash and Cover Model Search

August 27, 11am-2pm

We’re taking over the Five Seasons Indianapolis in celebration of back to school! The 2nd Annual Indy’s Child Back To School Bash will feature food trucks, inflatables, entertainment and plenty of local organizations ready to chat about their after-school and enrichment programs. Afterward, enjoy FREE fun at the Five Seasons outdoor pool.

New this year: The first LIVE Cover Model Search! We’re searching for a few good, er, kids to grace the covers of Indy’s Child magazine in 2017 and have an open call for casting at the event. Bring your mini models for their chance to win a cover AND a trip to Gaylord Opryland. FREE.

Celebrate mom at the MommyMile Indianapolis 5K at Clay Terrace

August 28 from 8:30am-12pm

If you’re a mom, know a mom or want to celebrate a mom, this brand-new 5K is perfect. This family-friendly fun takes over Clay Terrace Mall on Sunday morning and everyone is invited. Each race participant receives an amazing swag bag and a champagne toast. Dads are welcome to sneak into the Dad’s Den with craft beer samplings. Oodles of local vendors will be onsite too including our friends at theCityMoms. All proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana. Dig in at DigIN: Taste of Indiana 2016

August 28 from 12-4pm

It’s the seventh annual Taste of Indiana, this year in a new locale at Military Park. They’ll have all of the best local favorite restaurants as well as a sampling of all the new local food options that have sprouted up in the past year. For one price you will try everything from chicken, duck and pork, to melons, sweet corn, and tomatoes. Beer and wine also available for purchase. Adults tickets $45; kids $10; children 4 and under FREE.
