Clay Terrace, Carmel, Indiana’s premier shopping destination, will now be a location for the City of Carmel’s Zagster Bike Share Program. An official ribbon cutting ceremony commemorated the new docking station and coincided with the unveiling of the Indiana Department of Transportation’s bike path that connects Clay Terrace to downtown Carmel and downtown Indianapolis via the Monon Trail.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday, October 1 at the bike station, which is located near Jos. A. Bank. Mayor Brainard and Mall Manager Jennifer Jones will be the featured speakers.
“Clay Terrace is thrilled to be the Zagster Bike Share Program’s newest location,” said Jennifer Jones, mall manager at Clay Terrace. “The launch of this program at Clay Terrace, along with the opening of the new trail, allows the community to have even easier access to great shopping, dining and entertainment.”
Zagster provides bicycle sharing systems for the world’s leading businesses, communities and institutions by offering a variety of fun, safe, comfortable and easy to ride bikes. Members can borrow, unlock, ride and return their bike to any Carmel Zagster station for as low as $3 an hour and will also have access to bike docks, maintenance, 24/7 support, insurance and more.
“The City of Carmel is proud to expand its bike share program to Clay Terrace,” said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard. “We look forward to the continued growth of this green initiative, which encourages a more bike-friendly community to use our trail and path systems to get to work, school, shopping and exercise.”
The new Clay Terrace location adds to the growing number of locations around the city, including Carmel’s hotel corridor, Central Park, City Center and the Arts & Design District. Since its launch in April of 2015, the number of bikes available and their usage numbers have steadily grown with each new station.
“The city and citizens of Carmel are showing that bike share programs are not just for major metros anymore – that the simple joy of riding has appeal no matter where you are,” said Tim Ericson, co-founder and CEO of Zagster. “Mayor Brainard and the City of Carmel are setting a new standard for community health and recreation benefits through the investment in bike sharing.”
