Herron-Morton

Located in historic north downtown Indianapolis, Herron-Morton Place Park is a great place for kids and adults alike. The park is a tribute to the neighborhood's history, and includes a playground, open-air pavilion for concerts and performances, and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The Playground Sometimes, all you need is a little space to play and burn off some energy. Herron-Morton Place Park playground offers that and more. The playground includes a big structure with two slides (a tube slide and a regular tall slide), a rock climbing structure, monkey bars, a standing swing, and little interactive activities at the bottom of the structure for young kids. The playground is outfitted with wood chips on the ground. The playground also has swings (two big-kid swings and two baby swings), as well as spring riders to play on. The playground area and the swings area are separated by a big planter that includes beautiful native flowers and plants. One of the great things about this playground is that it’s big enough to entertain a young kid for a while, but it’s also small enough that you can see your young kid from wherever they’re playing at the park. There are also several benches around the park underneath trees, so you can sit and watch the action from a nice, shady spot. The Pavilion At the back of the park, there is a large open-air pavilion for group gatherings, concerts and performances. Residents can rent the pavilion for their own use, and it’s often the site of community musical performances during the summer. Near North Farmers Market During the late spring and all throughout the summer, Herron-Morton Place Park is the location of the Near North Farmers Market, which typically takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
