With more than 30 locations across central Indiana, the Enchanted Fairy Trail is a magical experience that will take your family on a unique, unexpected and free adventure. What is the Enchanted Fairy Trail? Fairy dwellings have *magically* appeared all across Central Indiana. You will find these special spaces in shops, restaurants, museums, gardens and galleries. These small, spritely dwellings offer a glimpse into the mystical world of fairies. Visitors to these fairy homes can peer through the windows or doors and find out how fairies live. And you might even spy a fairy itself! Visitors can also admire the fairies' intricate gardens and the beautiful way they leave their mark on their surroundings. Brownsburg resident Rebecca Holloway started the fairy trail four years ago with just a few stops. She has added more stops to the fairy trail each year, and has encouraged local businesses, parks and libraries to get involved. Holloway is part of a performing group, the Fae of Norsey Woods, and goes by the fairy name Odonata the Dragonfly Fairy. How the Enchanted Fairy Trail Works Fairy stops can be found on the Enchanted Fairy Trail website. Most stops are located in Hendricks County, but you can also find stops in Indianapolis, Greenfield, Greencastle, Richmond and other locations across the state. The map will tell you where to find each fairy location. Once you're there, you might have to search around a bit. (Fairies like to hide!) Look carefully for a tiny fairy house, which can be located inside a planter, hidden behind a tree or even located inside a building. Each fairy stop includes a QR code. Scan the code to see a video of the fairy and her story. While you're visiting the fairy house, be sure to check out the shop, library or garden where the fairy house is located. Part of Holloway’s goal is to bring visitors to different areas in Indiana and feature some of the unique locations. You may find something new to do as a family! Want to Do More? Brownsburg Library is the official Fairy Headquarters. Stop by the library to find a fairy habitat, write a letter to Odonata the Dragonfly Fairy and receive a personalized letter back via email. Though the annual Fairy Festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021, organizers are gearing up for the festival's return on May 21 and 22, 2022 at Beasley’s Orchard in Danville. Past festivals have included family-friendly food trucks, a petting zoo, pony rides, a meet-and-greet with Odonata and other fairy friends, and photo opportunities with a live unicorn.
