Shrek the Musical!

Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre. And now, Summer Stock stage is bringing this family musical to life.  Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek the Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs and a sidesplitting book. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

More than 40 of the most talented students from central Indiana have been rehearsing with director Emily Ristine Holloway, music director Jeanne Bowling, and choreographer Cherri Jaffee, to mount this fully-staged and orchestrated production.   These students, ages 13-19, come from 25 different public, private, and charter schools from throughout central Indiana. They will be joined by younger students from Summer Stock Stage Academy who will be featured in smaller roles. These are some of the best musical theater performers in the area. Many plan to continue their theater studies in college, while others have entirely different plans. All come together in a professional, collaborative environment to produce outstanding theater each summer.
