Nickelodeon’s Dora & Diego—Let’s Explore!

Grab your hiking boots and discover Nickelodeon’s Dora and Diego—Let’s Explore! as Dora and Diego take children and families on English and Spanish adventures from February 6, 2021 through July 25, 2021.

Meet beloved characters Dora and Diego from Nickelodeon’s hit preschool series Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!, along with their friends Boots, Map, Backpack, Isa, Tico, and of course Swiper. Dora, the 7-year old Latina heroine, her 8-year old cousin Diego, and their friends help the preschool set engage in problem-solving, active play, learn how to be a good friends and care for animals and the environment.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis built and debuted this exhibit a decade ago and Dora and Diego—Let’s Explore! has toured the country since then. In this return engagement, The Children’s Museum updated the exhibit to make it bilingual by adding special interpreter led programming in Spanish and English at specific times each week. Read exhibit label copy written in both languages too. Families and youngsters learn Spanish words and phrases together. New modifications make the exhibit safer during COVID-19.

The Purple Planet

Visit the Purple Planet with Dora and Boots! A Purple Planet home invites young visitors to climb inside and slide down on the surface of the Purple Planet.

Rocket Ship

Dora’s outer-space friends want to go back to the Purple Planet and need help getting there. Aboard the Rocket Ship, preschoolers are invited to pilot the ship, and test their memory with images of colorful planets as they help Dora and Boots take their outer-space friends home.

Constellations

On the way to the Purple Planet, Dora and Boots encounter some interesting star groupings. Children and their families help identify the patterns made out of stars by inserting star shapes to light-up a constellation.

Isa’s Flowery Garden

Dora’s friend Isa the Iguana demonstrates how to take care of flowers, plants, and animals. Even the littlest visitors will enjoy picking some posies.

Tico’s Tree and Car

Dora is a good friend to Tico the squirrel and young visitors are encouraged to be a good friend to Tico too. Tico needs help picking nuts from the tree for a family picnic. Children play along with Swiper to swipe the nuts and watch as they shoot up and over to fill Tico’s basket. Tico’s car needs fuel! Visitors help Tico fill up his car with nuts so he can begin his journey.

Pirate Ship

In the Pirate Ship, preschoolers join the Pirate Piggies crew sailing the ship and divvy the treasure they’ve discovered. They can raise and lower the Pirate Piggies’ flag, help divide coins into the Pirate Piggies’ banks and help share the treasure.

Animal Rescue Center

Young children practice caring for rainforest animals in Diego’s Animal Rescue Center. Preschoolers can rescue animals, like Diego, as they diagnose and address an animal’s problem from the ‘Scanner’ bed.

Preschoolers will role-play, solve problems, practice sharing and caring behaviors, and practice Spanish words and phrases. Everyone will celebrate a successful day – “We did it! Lo hicimos!”
