One of my family’s favorite winter activities is ice skating. Ever since my boys were little, we have been regulars at The Arctic Zone Iceplex in Westfield. Our favorite time to go? Cheap Skate Wednesdays!
Almost every Wednesday from 3:15 to 5:00, for only $6, you get admission, skate rental and a hot dog and a drink! That’s some great exercise and a super easy meal tied into one awesome and amazingly affordable outing.
For beginners, The Arctic Zone offers “skate helpers.” The “skate helper” means that your child will have the support to skate independently no matter their age or level. I do suggest that for little ones, parents still appropriately pad up their child, including putting a helmet on their precious head.
If your child becomes a fan of skating, you need to check out Hamilton County’s ice-skating classes. Classes are offered at The Arctic Zone, Carmel Ice Skadium and Fishers Fuel Tank. All rinks offer beginning figure skating classes and beginning hockey classes that include free use of equipment, if needed, in the first few lessons.
For older kids, try one of the three rinks’ Cosmic Skates. During Cosmic Skate, the lights are lowered and a multi-colored light show fills the rink. The combination of lights, music and skating is a really fun and magical experience especially during the holidays.
If you have been skating around the idea of taking your kids to the rink, Cheap Skate Wednesday is the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
