As the school supply lists are arriving and summer is winding down, my kids are begging to do one more thing before summer break is officially over.
I’m having trouble finding the time (or the funds) to go all over town to check off an eclectic bucket list for three kids under 12 years of age. However, there are a few all-in-one locations that are sure to satisfy everyone with outdoor and indoor activities.
Greatimes Family Fun Park is one of those locations. Located in the heart of Indy at 5341 Elmwood Ave., Greatimes is one of those locations that offers a classic arcade along with a variety of other unique activities.
Arcade and Game Room
Although gaming isn’t the reason we dragged everyone out of the house for fresh air and family togetherness, it’s still the thing my kids often enjoy most. There are more than 100 options at the arcade, and all ages can find something fun to play. Greattimes gives guests Play Point cards, so kids aren’t walking around with a handful of tokens, and each game is worth a certain amount of your play points. Those same play points are the payment system for all attractions.
Go-Karts
Now we’re talking about getting outside and trying something new. Greattimes has three different go-kart tracks. The Road Course offers single and double karts and is the typical, winding, twisting racetrack experience. The Slick Track is shorter and offers a more challenging, faster-paced race. The Kiddie Track is the smallest track for youngest guests. Be sure to check out height and age requirements before selecting a track.
Bumper Boats
Bumper boats on water is fun for the whole family. You will get wet, but you may also get the opportunity to soak your opponent with the blaster squirt guns attached to the boat. It’s a great break from the summer heat and anyone 36 inches or taller can participate.
Miniature Golf
I don’t know about you, but my family is always searching for the nearest miniature golf place. Putt-putt golf is a fun game for the entire family, and Greattimes offers two 18-hole mini golf courses with waterfalls, fountains and challenges at every turn.
Indoor Playground
If the weather is not cooperating or your little one isn’t interested, the facility also includes a giant indoor playground full of climbing apparatus, slides, tubes and obstacles. Visitors can purchase an all-day pass for access to the playground, a perfect break for kids who have been outside all day or moms that need to have a seat and catch their breath.
