Give the Gift of Life at the Bleed Blue Blood Drive

December is a time for giving, and what better gift is there than the gift of life?

On December 21, Colts fans can make a difference in someone’s life by donating blood at the Bleed Blue Blood Drive, the largest day-long blood drive in the state.

Taking place at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Bleed Blue Blood Drive, hosted by the Colts and Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, will also include free family-friendly activities all day, including opportunities to tour the field, watch football-themed movies on the stadium’s large HD screens, and meet Colts players, Colts cheerleaders and Blue, the Colts mascot. Other activities include face painting, a photo booth, Colts giveaways, Colts inflatables, chances to win Colts tickets and more. All blood donors will also receive a limited edition full-size football featuring Colts TE Jack Doyle’s photo and laser signature.

“In addition to the blood drive, we will be hosting a Colts Flag Football Classic on the field,” says Ashley Powell, director of community relations with the Indianapolis Colts. “Guests can sit in the stands and enjoy watching the flag football competition for free.”

Last year, over 1,300 units of blood were donated during the blood drive, and organizers are hoping to exceed that number this year. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and meet eligibility requirements. Parental consent is required for donors age 16 to give. All donors must bring a current ID that includes their birth date. The donation process takes about an hour. Blood donors are encouraged to register for an appointment here.

The Bleed Blue Blood Drive is free and open to the public, and takes place on Saturday, December 21 from 8 am to 3 pm at Lucas Oil Stadium. Learn more about the event and blood donation eligibility requirements here.
