Browse a wide variety of fossils, cut and uncut gemstones, and minerals from all over the world at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites’ 21st annual GeoFest, happening February 16-18, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Enjoy three days and three floors of rocks, minerals and fossil specimens! Whether you are a rockhound, a fossil enthusiast, or you just love crystals and gems, there is something exciting for you to discover. Partake in hands-on activities with community partners and museum staff … and even see REAL dinosaur skeletons!

Visitors can browse 25 booths of vendors from across the country, selling a variety of items from beautiful cut and uncut gems, giant geodes, incredible fossil and mineral specimens, polished stones, jewelry and more.
Additionally, visitors can explore the museum’s naturalist lab and galleries to discover unique fossils and geological artifacts, including a real moon rock.
Visitors will also find several activity stations offered by the museum, local science clubs and other community partners. Among them, attendees can check out Irving Materials’ cement truck and make a trilobite paperweight to take home. In connection with the new Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks exhibit, families can check out the earthquake engineering station and try to construct an earthquake-proof building out of blocks. Plus, students interested in studying geology can take a tour of the Indiana University-Indianapolis Department of Earth Sciences at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
GEOfest is free for members and included with museum admission, which is $20 for adults, $14 for youth (ages 3-17) and $18 for seniors. Visitors can save on admission by purchasing their tickets in advance online at www.indianamuseum.org.
