Now there’s another way to see movies on the big screen … for free!

Free Movie Series at Butler Arts & Events Center

Butler University is hosting a free movies series this fall at the at Schrott Center for the Arts. The movies are open to all ages, and no tickets are necessary to attend. Just show up! Guests can purchase concessions on site.

All movies begin at 7 p.m. at the Schrott Center, located at 610 W. 46th St. on Butler’s campus.

The Movie Schedule

Aug. 27: Pitch Perfect

(Rated PG-13) Beca, a freshman at Barden University, is cajoled into joining The Bellas, her school’s all-girls singing group. Injecting some much needed energy into their repertoire, The Bellas take on their male rivals in a campus competition.

Sept. 5: Barbie

(Rated PG-13) Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Sept. 12: Black Panther

(Rated PG-13) T’Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country’s past.

Sept. 19: Shrek

(Rated PG) A mean lord exiles fairytale creatures to the swamp of a grumpy ogre, who must go on a quest and rescue a princess for the lord in order to get his land back.

Sept. 27: Back to the Future

(Rated PG) Marty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown.

Oct. 3: Mean Girls

(Rated PG-13) Cady Heron is a hit with The Plastics, the A-list girl clique at her new school, until she makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of alpha Plastic Regina George.

Oct. 8: The Exorcist

(Rated R) When a young girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two Catholic priests to save her life.

Oct. 15: Twilight

(Rated PG-13) When Bella Swan moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest, she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who reveals himself to be a 108-year-old vampire.

Dec. 3: Elf

(Rated PG) Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit.
