Festival of Trees

Celebrate the holidays all season long in a winter wonderland at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center’s Festival of Trees, open now through Jan. 2. Last year, they had 25 elaborately themed trees; this year, they have 50! 

In addition to their regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the History Center is open noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Guests can tour an exhibition highlighting IHS’s charming holiday-based photos and enjoy fun, family-friendly activities and events. 

Special weekend programming includes The Christmas that Never Was presented by Know No Stranger on Saturday, Dec. 12 and the Melchior Marionettes perform Holiday Cabaret on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 20. Every Saturday in December a vintage Santa visits from 2 to 4 p.m. and craft-making activities from noon to 4 p.m. Every Sunday in December includes winter face painting. Additional after-hours adult programming adds a different twist to the holidays. 

Get into the holiday spirit everyday with sing-alongs in the Cole Porter Room. Then find Buddy, the History Center’s resident Elf on the Shelf. Check out their Facebook page for a hint of his whereabouts and then visit to see what he’s gotten into. Tell the Welcome Center you found him, and get a little prize.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22 take the family to see the trees at night. A strolling vintage Santa is sure to delight the kids and special Holiday Handmades activities will be available. Everything will be open until 9 p.m.
