10 Family-Friendly Movies to Stream this Weekend

Movie night? Movie night!

It’s very possible that at this point, you’ve exhausted everything that your streaming services have to offer. Luckily, services like Netflix and Hulu add new movies and shows on a regular basis, so hopefully you’re still finding things to enjoy. Otherwise, use this list to watch an old favorite or one you haven’t seen yet this weekend with Netflix and/or Hulu!

 

Netflix

The Willoughbys, 2020

This one’s brand new to Netflix this week! Four siblings with horribly selfish parents hatch a plan to get rid of them for good and form a perfectly imperfect family of their own.

A Cinderella Story, 2004

An early-2000’s tween classic with cell phones that today’s tweens won’t recognize. Sam meets the boy of her dreams at a dance before returning to toil in her stepmother’s diner. Can her lost cell phone bring them together?

Hook, 1991

Just added to Netflix in March, this is a Robin Williams and young Julia Roberts classic. The boy who wasn’t supposed to grow up, Peter Pan, did just that. But when vengeful Captain Hook kidnaps Peter’s kids, he’s forced to return to Neverland. This is recommended for kids 10+.

It Takes Two, 1995

This beloved Mary Kate and Ashley movie came to Netflix in February. The Olsen twins put a cute spin on Mark Twain’s classic tale “The Prince and the Pauper,” playing identical 9-year-olds from very different backgrounds.

Space Jam, 1996

Did you watch the Michael Jordan documentary that dropped this week? Keep the Michael Jordan love going. In Space Jam, Bugs Bunny and his pals coax Michael Jordan out of retirement to play in a basketball game against a team of monstrous aliens.

Abominable, 2019

Brand new to Hulu, this movie’s full of magic and adventure. When three mischievous friends discover a young yeti on their roof, they name him Everest and embark on a thrilling adventure to reunite the magical creature with his family.

Free Willy, 1993

Another ’90’s classic. When troubled orphan Jesse vandalizes a theme park, he is placed with foster parents and must work at the park to make amends. He meets and forms a bond with Willy, a young Orca whale who has been separated from his family.

Billboard Dad, 1998

The Olsen sisters make another appearance! Twin sisters Emily and Tess take matters into their own hands and print an ad on a billboard to find love for their newly single father.

Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears a Who!, 2008

The beloved Dr. Seuss tale of a big-hearted elephant who comes to the aid of a very small world is brought to colorful life.

Antz, 1998

If you’re a 90’s kid, you were probably on team Antz or team A Bugs Life. Introduce your family to the rivalry with Antz, a movie about a small worker ant who switches places with a soldier ant to win the heart of the beautiful princess.
