Event Details

Kids who love dogs or need a little extra encouragement to read are invited to spend time with a Paws & Think therapy dog. Each child gets a 15-minute one-on-one reading session, giving them a calm, friendly listener while they practice their reading skills. The program is especially welcoming to reluctant readers, since the dogs are specially trained to enjoy being read to and never judge mistakes.

Registration is required and handled in person on the day of the program. Families can stop by the Kids Desk to sign up for a time slot, and sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To help kids stay focused on their reading and their dog companion, snacks should be enjoyed before or after the visit.
