2026 Opera in the Park

Indianapolis Opera opens its 52nd season with the ninth annual Opera in the Park, a free outdoor concert presented in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Soprano Angela Brown and Maestro Alfred Savia host the evening, featuring bass-baritone Ron Dukes, tenor Joseph McBrayer, the Indianapolis Opera Resident Artists and Chorus, and the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra.

Guests can enjoy the concert from amphitheater seating or bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for the lawn. Food trucks and a mobile bar will be available, and guests may also bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages. Outside alcohol is prohibited at Garfield Park, but beer and wine will be available for purchase with a valid ID.

Admission is free. Indianapolis Opera suggests a $20 donation per person to help support free community events. Guests can also scan a QR code at the entrances for the concert program, including translations, artist bios and season information.

Picnic Contest

Guests can participate in the annual Picnic Contest, with a 2026 theme of America250! celebrating the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence. The winning picnic will receive a basket of goodies and a pair of tickets to either La Traviata or Man of La Mancha.

Parking

Parking is available in multiple lots along Pagoda Drive and at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Accessible parking is located behind MacAllister Amphitheater near the Garfield Park Arts Center. The primary public entrance to the lawn is off Pagoda Drive on the south side of the amphitheater, with a second entrance west of the amphitheater near the accessible parking area.
