Celebrate freedom with a FREE admission day at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for our annual Juneteenth Jamboree on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Reservations are required to ensure entry (Museum members do not need to reserve tickets). Registration for free tickets opens at 9 a.m. on May 28 at childrensmuseum.org/juneteenth or by calling 317-334-4000. At the Juneteenth Jamboree, the museum works with local community partners to help share authentic stories that teach the history and significance of Juneteenth through themed programming, activities, and experiences.
Various activities and experiences this year include live performances by the Griot Drum Ensemble, T.G. Danz dance group, and the JBJ Collective, Juneteenth Story Time with Portia Jackson, along with the chance to create art with one of our newest visiting artists. The Community Marketplace is returning, with numerous community resources and shopping opportunities. In addition, visitors will have a chance to learn more about Juneteenth and leave their mark in the Murals for Justice activity.
Back by popular demand, visitors will also have the opportunity to meet and greet a former Miss Indy Juneteenth and create their own Sashes of Affirmations. Visitors are encouraged to check out the beautiful Miss Indy Juneteenth dress display that will be available to view from May 23 through June 30.
