Annual Greening of the Canal

The Hoosier Lottery St. Patrick’s Day Kickoff Celebration, hosted by The Athletic Club Foundation in partnership with the Hoosier Lottery, kicks off St. Patrick’s weekend in downtown Indianapolis. Families can stop by the Ohio Street Canal Basin on Ohio Street between West Street and Senate for live music, guest speakers, and the Greening of the Canal.

The event includes live entertainment from the Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers and Sheep in the Boat Band, special guest Hoosier Lottery Draw Host Chayzee Smith, and official pourers including the Mayor of Indianapolis, the 2026 Irish Citizen of the Year, and Sarah Taylor, Executive Director of the Hoosier Lottery. Food trucks will be on Ohio Street between Senate and West Street. The event is free and open to the public, with live streaming on the Hoosier Lottery Facebook Page and the Indianapolis St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Facebook page.

Schedule Highlights

Paid parking is available around Senate Street, Ohio Street, New York Street, and Indiana Avenue. The White River State Park parking garage is located off Washington Street just west of West Street. The event takes place on the Canal just east of Fire Station 13 and across the street from the Historical Society.
