Free Admission @ Indiana Historical Society - Hoosier Latino Celebration

The Eiteljorg Museum will offer free admission for a day of Latino arts, culture, and history. Visitors can enjoy repeated screenings of the 23-minute documentary Beyond el Barrio in the Frank and Katrina Basile Theater, with the final 3 p.m. showing featuring a presentation by the film’s director and Multi-Cultural Collections Curator Nicole Martinez-LeGrand. The day will also include live music by Alboroto on the Stardust Terrace (weather permitting) and a cooking demonstration of a Colombian dish by Ivone Razzino.

Hands-on activities available throughout the day will include making papel picado, creating magnets with images from the IHS collections, weaving inspired by the book Abuela’s Weave, and playing the traditional Mexican game of lotería. Activities will end at 4 p.m., and museum exhibits will remain open until 5 p.m.
