Synopsis: Ring of Fire celebrates the iconic Johnny Cash — the Man in Black whose razor-sharp vocals and stripped-down country sound helped shape the American rock ‘n’ roll landscape in the 20th century. The musical follows Cash’s early life in the cotton fields of Arkansas and moves to Memphis as he launches his music career, hits it big and marries the love of his life, June Carter. Five actor-musicians deliver crowd-pleasing renditions of Cash’s musical catalog, from country rock n’roll to searing ballads of love and faith, including “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I’ve Been Everywhere” and, of course, “Ring of Fire.” A toe-tapping, soul-stirring musical biography like never before, Ring of Fire celebrates the music that has become a part of our collective experience

For four weeks from Sept. 14 to Oct. 12 (IHS is closed Sundays/Mondays), visitors can celebrate and learn more about Latino and Hispanic heritage in Indiana through art, a costume display, an exhibit and special programming! Everything is included with regular admission.

Indiana Historical Society’s traveling exhibit, Be Heard: Latino Experiences in Indiana, and a display of historical Folklorico costumes will be available for viewing in Lilly Hall.

FREE ADMISSION will be available on opening day, Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to kick off celebrating Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month! Art, games, performances, food demonstrations and more will be available all day long for children and adults alike tied to the theme of Hoosier Latinos. Activities will end at 4 p.m. and museum exhibits will remain open until 5 p.m.

Also returning to IHS this fall is nationally celebrated artist, Justin Favela, a mixed-media artist known for large-scale installations and sculptures that draw from the American experience and are inspired by the Latino community. Justin’s work has been featured most recently at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the Denver Art Museum, the Museo de las Americas and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History, among many others.

This year he is drawing inspiration from the cover of the IHS Press book, Hoosier Latinos: A Century of Struggle, Service and Success, and Indiana’s longest-running Latino Hoosier tradition, the annual Fiestas Patrias (Mexican Independence) parade, which is celebrated every second weekend in September in East Chicago, Indiana in Lake County.

Circle City Irish Fest is keeping tradition alive in Indianapolis by celebrating Irish heritage through music, dance, culture, and sport. We will have two days of fun, entertainment, and shenanigans on September 20th and 21st headlined by a group we can always count on to bring the energy and enthusiasm, The Fighting Jameson’s!

Synopsis: She Loves Me is a euphoric holiday-themed romantic comedy with a soaring score that shares its source material with the classic movies “The Shop Around the Corner,” “In the Good Old Summertime,” and “You’ve Got Mail.”. Amalia and Georg work together at a modest Hungarian parfurmerie and have disliked each other from the very beginning. He thinks she’s stuck up, and she thinks he’s arrogant and mean. But each rapturously writes to a lonely-hearts pen pal when the workday is done, and it doesn’t take long for the audience to see that they’re in love without realizing it. Inevitably through some of the most iconic songs in the musical theatre canon (“Vanilla Ice Cream”, “She Loves Me”, “Will He Like Me?”), Georg and Amalia discover the truth as well and rejoice in their love for each other at the story’s sweet and musically delightful conclusion.

Synopsis: Whodunit…the Musical by longtime Broadway actor & playwright Ed Dixon, is a farcical musical mystery based on “The Circular Staircase” and “The Bat” by Mary Roberts Rinehart, often considered “America’s Agatha Christie.” A wealthy spinster and her cockney maid take a beautiful Connecticut summer home in 1931. When they arrive, all the help has quit, except for a very odd butler who warns that something strange is going on. They are soon joined by the spinster’s niece who’s brought a friend… a “friend” who turns out to be a young man! Heavens! After a night of attempted breakins, the sound of gun shots, and the discovery of a dead body – or two – the detective arrives and things get REALLY strange! Whodunit is a tuneful, riotous romp that’s part mystery, part drawing room farce, and all musical comedy
