Zionsville, IN: September is Suicide Prevention Month, and a beloved Zionsville family has worked tirelessly for several years to raise awareness and prompt much needed dialogue and action around this mental health topic.
In November of 2021, Zionsville residents Randy and Angie Eugenio lost their 19-year-old son Tate, who died by suicide. In his memory they organized a concert, Music 2 Heal, to raise money for local nonprofits and bring messages of care, joy and perseverance to the community.
Music2Heal will return to Zionsville’s STAR Bank Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 28, 2024 for a second year. The show will be headlined by local favorite, Six Foot Blonde, and will highlight multiple acts featuring accomplished musicians, many who have played alongside Tate on this very stage. Last year’s event featured over 40 artists and hosted nearly 1,000 patrons.
“My family and I are all music lovers, and Tate was no exception. His middle school teacher guided him to the drums, and it was the perfect fit. Finding solace through music is a gift, and doing so with many of Tate’s best musician friends has been incredible,” Angie said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tate Eugenio Memorial Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Boone County. The money raised will also directly benefit mental health organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Health, Zionsville Alliance for Mental Wellness (Zamwell) and The American Society for Suicide Prevention.
“Zamwell is pleased to provide support for Music 2 Heal as it coincides perfectly with our mission to promote awareness, encourage conversations, offer resources and engage the community,” said Kristen Bitzegaio, Zamwell’s Executive Director.
“This event would not be possible without the eagerness of our performers, many who are now working professionally in the music business,” Angie said. “I am so grateful for everyone who has come together to create Music 2 Heal. I hope our event helps make it safer to talk about mental health and gives the community a chance to enjoy a night of exceptional music.”
