The Indianapolis Zoo is the place to be Thursday and Friday nights this summer with the return of its two wildly popular concert series, Zoolapalooza presented by Indiana Members Credit Union and Animals and All That Jazz.
These two unique series will have guests shaking a tail feather and grooving to the beats performed by top local acts. Zoolapalooza runs four consecutive Fridays beginning June 19. Concerts will feature popular area bands playing hits from past and present. Animals and All That Jazz kicks off July 9 and continues every Thursday through August 6. Now in its 28th season, this series will showcase a range of distinctive artists.
Live music will play from 5:30 to 8:30 pm in the Party Pavilion near the front of the Zoo where guests can enjoy their favorite music near many adorable animals. Plus, delicious foods and drinks are available for visitors to savor while listening to the sweet sounds of summer evenings.
With animals out until 7 pm on concert nights, it will also be the perfect time to visit the Zoo’s newest nocturnal residents. Koala presented by Citizens Energy Group offers close-up views of these fuzzy forest dwellers in their temporary home in the Forests exhibit.
Koalas are nocturnal and sleep up to 20 hours a day nestled among the branches of their favorite trees. At night, they love to nibble on tender eucalyptus leaves. But visitors will have to be fast to see these wildly cute critters before they leave after Labor Day.
The koala exhibit as well as summer concerts are free for Zoo members and included with regular admission.
