Early Growers stands out as a preschool that blends nature-based learning, whole-food nutrition, and a nurturing environment that supports the whole child. Unlike traditional programs, children spend time outdoors every day, engaging with natural materials, gardening, and exploring hands-on activities that spark curiosity and independence. The program prioritizes sustainable practices, from eco-friendly materials to a focus on real, nourishing foods made from scratch. Social-emotional learning is woven into the daily rhythm, helping children develop emotional regulation and strong interpersonal skills.
What is Early Growers Preschool educational philosophy?
Early Growers’ educational philosophy is rooted in nature-based, child-led learning that nurtures curiosity, independence, and a deep connection to the world. We believe children thrive when they are given the freedom to explore, play, and discover at their own pace in a supportive, enriching environment. Our approach integrates hands-on, experiential learning with real-world connections, allowing children to develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and a strong sense of self. We emphasize social-emotional development, fostering respectful communication, collaboration, and resilience. By incorporating whole-food nutrition and sustainable practices, we encourage lifelong healthy habits and environmental stewardship. At Early Growers, we honor each child’s individuality and inspire a lifelong love of learning through meaningful experiences.
What is Early Growers Preschool age/grade range?
Preschool, ages 3-5
What is your enrollment policy? Are there any key dates parents should be aware of?
Our enrollment policy is designed to ensure that every child is a good fit for our nature-based program. To enroll, children must be between the ages of 3 and 5 and meet our basic health and safety requirements. While we prefer children to be at least mostly potty-trained, we are flexible and provide support as needed. Enrollment is based on availability, with priority given to families who align with our educational philosophy and values. Families interested in enrolling must complete an application, provide necessary health forms, and participate in an orientation to ensure a smooth transition for their child. We strive to create a welcoming, inclusive community and work closely with families throughout the enrollment process.

What are the standard school day hours? Does your school offer flexible day/hour options? Is before/after school care available?
School hours are 8:30am-4pm and we offer before and after care starting at 7am and going till 5:30pm. We welcome families to work with us to find a schedule that fits their needs, including half days.
How many children are in each class? How are children divided up?
We are a home based preschool and all children will be together in group.
What is the teacher/child ratio?
We maintain a low teacher-to-child ratio to ensure individualized attention and a supportive learning environment. Our ratio is typically 1 teacher for every 6 children, allowing for more personalized guidance and interaction. This small group size helps foster strong relationships, enhances learning opportunities, and ensures children receive the care and attention they need throughout the day.
What are the teacher’s credentials?
Early Growers’ teachers are passionate, experienced educators who bring a deep commitment to child-led, nature-based learning. Our lead teachers have backgrounds in early childhood education, child development, or related fields, with hands-on experience in outdoor and play-based learning environments. They are trained in fostering social-emotional growth, guiding children through exploration, and supporting their natural curiosity. Additionally, our staff is certified in pediatric CPR and first aid, ensuring a safe environment.
Is parental participation required?
Parental participation is not required at Early Growers, but it is warmly encouraged. We believe that strong family connections enhance a child’s learning experience, so we offer opportunities for parents to engage with the program in ways that fit their schedules and interests. Families are welcome to volunteer for special activities, join garden projects, participate in seasonal celebrations, and contribute to our community in meaningful ways. While involvement is optional, we value open communication and collaboration with parents to support each child’s growth and development. Parents are also welcome to join the co-op!
How do teachers communicate with parents? How often do parents receive updates?
We use Brightwheel for all communications and children’s profiles are updated daily. Parents will receive notifications to their emails and phone via the Brightwheel app.
Does Early Growers Preschool offer support for students with special needs?
We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children. While we are not a specialized special education program, we strive to accommodate diverse learning needs and work closely with families to understand how we can best support their child. Our small class sizes and individualized approach allow us to provide personalized attention and adapt activities as needed. If a child requires additional support beyond what we can offer, we are happy to collaborate with families and outside specialists to ensure the best possible experience for their child.
How much time do the children spend outside?
Children will spend a significant portion of their day outdoors, engaging in hands-on learning and free play in nature. Our goal is for children to be outside every day, regardless of the season, as long as the weather conditions are safe. Depending on the day’s activities, children may spend at least 50% and up to 80% of their time outdoors, exploring, gardening, and engaging in active play. We believe that outdoor experiences foster resilience, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world. When extreme weather conditions arise, we adjust as needed while still incorporating nature-based elements into the indoor environment.
Are meals and/or snacks provided?
Breakfast is included in before-care and Lunch and two snacks are included with base tuition.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
At Early Growers, we prefer that children be at least mostly potty-trained before enrolling, as this supports their independence and daily participation in our outdoor-focused program. However, we understand that toilet learning is a developmental process that looks different for every child. Our staff provides gentle support and encouragement, following each child’s individual needs and family preferences. We welcome the use of training pants or occasional assistance as children gain confidence in their potty skills. Our goal is to create a positive, inclusive environment that supports each child’s growth while maintaining a smooth and comfortable experience for all.
What enrichment programs/activities are offered?

Our staff is trained in emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and first-aid, and we conduct regular safety drills. Strict handwashing and sanitation protocols are followed to maintain a healthy environment, especially during meal preparation and outdoor activities. Outdoor play areas and equipment are regularly inspected for safety, and children are monitored closely during outdoor exploration. We work with families to accommodate any medical needs or allergies, ensuring the proper steps are taken in case of an emergency.
