Remember the fun of creating costumes, worlds, and stories out of whatever you had nearby? Do you have a child in your life that knows that something as simple as a box can be a spaceship, boat, or a castle? The IRT’s new production for children ages 3-8 celebrates this very creativity and the magic of make-believe in The Little Choo-Choo That Thinks She Can, on stage October 9 – 27.
A new spin on the classic tale The Little Engine That Could, this adaptation follows a young sibling pair as they invent a train full of friends and a big, big hill to get over. The Little Choo-Choois non-stop play from the moment you enter the theatre, and the story unfolds through the siblings’ imaginations with music, repetition, rhythm, and lots of fun.
Packed with play, The Little Choo-Choointroduces children to not only the live theatre experience in a kid-friendly way (think floor seats right in the middle of the action and audience cues for encouraged participation), but also teaches them about perseverance, friendships, and just what a superpower their imagination truly is.
This daytime production features storytime seating where children and adults can sit on the floor, in addition to chair options along the back or side of the theatre. There will be pre- and post-show activities for an experience totaling 75 minutes. You can purchase tickets online or by calling the IRT Ticket Office at 317.635.5252.
