A Night Out at the Symphony: Witness the Uncharted Series with the ISO!

Looking for a new way to experience the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra? Then don’t miss two amazing performances coming up in the Uncharted Series written and orchestrated by creative director Steve Hackman. On April 17, Hackman will conduct “And I Love Her: The Beatles Reimagined.” This musical tribute to the Beatles honors the women that influenced them and the kaleidoscopic female characters they created—from “Michelle” and “Eleanor Rigby” to “Blackbird” and “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” Each song is witnessed through Steve Hackman’s unique and imaginative musical lens, elevating the masterful craftsmanship and explosive creativity of the original. The production is a virtuosic showpiece for the entire symphony orchestra, with many songs given extended preludes and postludes. The eight soloists who travel with the production—four vocalists, drummer, bassist, pianist, and electric guitarist—bring a staggering level of musicianship and talent, and together represent a vivid and wide-ranging blend of styles and techniques.

Finally, kick off your summer with one last Uncharted Series performance of “From Beethoven to Beyoncé.” This is a fantastical trip through an imaginary music festival curated by those two artists, combining the greatest composers of all-time with the best popular artists of today. Lady Gaga sings with Brahms; Bruno Mars improvises with Bach; Wagner conducts while Adele sings; Muse, Shostakovich and Chance the Rapper talk politics; Stravinsky and Daft Punk push the boundaries; John Mayer fanboys over Mahler; and Beethoven and Beyoncé bring it home with help from Mumford and Sons. Three vocal soloists, one also a multi-instrumentalist, join the full ISO.
