Q&A with Starting Line Preschool:
What makes Starting Line unique?
We are unique in that we individualize the class based on the children. We can slow down or speed up the learning material based on the interests and ability of the children. Our school performs shows throughout the school year up on stage with singing and dancing. The end of the year show is a culmination of themes with plays and costumes. We like to expose children to the many activities they can get involved in as they grow.
What is Starting Line’s educational philosophy?
We are an educationally based, traditional pre-school, not a daycare. The bar is set high for our students. Topics are introduced through play, stories, art, group activities and pencil/paper practice. Our numbers are small so that one to one time can be included in our day to help strengthen learning.
What is Starting Line’s age/grade range?
- Two year olds meet 2 days a week.
- Three year olds meet 3 days a week.
- Four/Five year olds meet 5 days a week.
What is your enrollment policy? Are there any key dates parents should be aware of?
We have registration starting in February for the upcoming school year. We do accept children throughout the year if space is available.
What are the standard school day hours? Does Starting Line Preschool offer flexible day/hour options? Is before/after school care available?
- Two year olds meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:00 – 11:30am.
- Three year olds meet Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9:00 – 1:00pm
- Four/Five year olds meet Monday – Fridays from 9:00 – 1:00pm.

- Three year olds have a maximum number of 12. Two teachers in the class.
- Four/Five year olds have a maximum number of 15. Two teachers in the class.
Each age level has their own room for learning. We have 2 large areas for play all together.
What are the teacher’s credentials?
Both lead teachers have a degree in Education. They have been teaching for 25 plus years.
Is parental participation required?
Parents do not participate with class activities. We have found that children react differently when their parents join the classroom. We perform shows throught the school year to show the parents what they have learned as well as inviting them to attend field trips as they are able.
How do teachers communicate with parents? How often do parents receive updates?
Two year olds have a child specific daily note that comes home to tell parents what their child has done that day. It includes snack, play activities and bathroom routine notes to aid in parent/child conversations at home.
Three year olds have weekly emails with the activities to expect for the upcoming week.
Four/Five year olds have a monthly calendar.
All classes use the app “Class Dojo” where we share pictures of activities, science, playtime, etc. often.
Does Starting Line Preschool offer support for students with special needs?
In the past we have had aides come into the class to help children diagnosed with special needs. We are always open to those possibilities.
How much time do the children spend outside?
We try to go outside daily at least 20-30 minutes. As long as it above freezing and not raining.
Are meals and/or snacks provided?
Parents are on a rotation for snacks per class. We accomadate for food allergies per class.
Children bring a lunch daily with a water bottle.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
Two year olds do not need to be potty-trained. Upon parent readiness, we help in the potty training process.
