Out and About: Fishers, IN

Nestled in the historic heart of Fishers, IN is the Nickel Plate Bar and Grill. Originally home to the Parks Place Saloon in the 1880’s, the building still maintains its character after being renovated and expanded in 1991.

I ventured over to the bar and grill with my friend, Angela who was in town for business. This was the perfect lunch time stop not only for its delicious food but also for its prime location. Surrounded by locally owned shops, the restaurant is perfect for tourists but is also great for locals looking for a good meal with a charming atmosphere.

Known for it’s casual, pub-like atmosphere, the Nickel Plate Bar and Grill has something for everyone. The restaurant features a variety of entrees including the infamous Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, selected as Indiana’s Best by Indy’s Men’s Magazine. Deep fried and served on a kaiser bun, this sandwich is so tasty that one Chicago family showed up with a cooler to take seven back home with them!

Angela and I not only enjoyed our own Tenderloin Sandwich, but also savored the restaurant’s famous Hobo Stew and Pretzel-wich, a warm pretzel bun with ham and Swiss cheese sandwiched in between.

Next time you’re on the hunt for some great local fare and small town allure, check out the Nickel Plate Bar and Grill. You won’t be disappointed!
