10 Fun Fall Classes for Homeschoolers in Indianapolis

School is finally back in full swing throughout Indianapolis, and that includes homeschooling families too. We’ve heard more and more from our social media friends that you’d like to hear about unique homeschool class or outing options, and well, we’re listening!

Here are 10 fun fall classes for homeschoolers in Indianapolis to add an extra kick to your curriculum.

uPaint Pottery Art Homeschool Day

August 14 at 1pm

Join the folks at UPaint Pottery of Plainfield once a month for a class designed specifically for homeschool children. In August they plan to celebrate going back to school by painting a container for pens/pencils with a tracing technique. Classes last approximately one hour and no reservation is necessary.

Homeschool Day at the Indiana State Museum

September 8 from 10am-2pm

Enjoy a day of learning at the Levi and Catharine Coffin State Historic Site. Meet the Coffins as they share stories about their work on the Underground Railroad. Visit the site’s new interpretive center and participate in hands-on activities and don’t forget the guided tour of the 1839 Coffin home!  $5 for children and $10 for adults.

Carmel Clay Parks & Rec Homeschool Nature: Making Tracks

September 6 – October 18 on Wednesdays from 10am- 11am

Homeschoolers will learn outdoor awareness and have the opportunity to deepen their relationship with nature.  They will have the chance to develop independence as they learn survival skills, to learn how to build a fire, to construct shelter, to track and identify animals, to develop navigational skills, and to use wild plants.  The fee is $40 per child.

Homeschool Days at Conner Prairie

September 12

On this day, any homeschool family can visit Conner Prairie for low school group rates without the usual requirement of having a group of 15 students or more. Explore the variety of learning opportunities Conner Prairie has to offer in their six historic areas. Take on a role in Prairietown by using the Adventure Guide and Achievement Cards, link history with hands-on science in the Create.Connect gallery, and experience Indiana’s brush with the Civil War at 1863 Civil War Journey. Also be sure to explore the newly reimagined Conner House, and take a journey out to the newest exhibit, Treetop Outpost. Cost: $5.50 per student, $8.50 per chaperone, free for primary educator.

Solar System Science at Hamilton East Public Library, Noblesville
The Noblesville Branch of the Hamilton East Public Library hosts a regular homeschool program called “Super Thinkers/Full STEAM Ahead.” On the 14th, class-goers will explore the sun and all of the planets in our solar system.  The class will have activities for everyone  Best for homeschool families with children ages 5-13. Free.
Children’s Museum Homeschool Program: Marionettes and Movement

September 21 from 10-11:30am

Discover a new way to experience dance – with marionettes!  Learn how your muscles work through the motion of a marionette.  Explore and replicate different dance styles from around the world.  Learn the tricks of the trade from a local puppeteer.  Cost: $4 for members, $8 for member youths, $5 for nonmembers, $10 for nonmember youths. Registration required.

Homeschool Adventures at the Indianapolis Public Library Franklin Road Branch

September 21 at 1:30pm

Homeschooled children ages 6-12 are invited for activities designed to entertain and educate as a supplement to their homeschool curricula. Parent educators are encouraged to attend and collaborate as Miss Karen and Miss Kasey will present activities for ages 6-12. Call {317} 275-4380 with questions.

Raptor Days, Hardy Lake

September 22 from 9:00am-3:00pm

Join us for the “Schools Day” portion of Hardy Lake Raptor Days.  All schools, homeschools, and families are invited out to this day of learning with the birds of prey. Live bird programs, games, crafts, and hikes happen hourly from 9am until 3pm. Please pre-register by email to [email protected]

Homeschool Workshop at Indiana State Museum

October 3 call for time

Calling all Homeschool families and co-ops! Homeschool Days are designated just for you. Explore designated themes throughout the museum, experience a workshop and check out gallery activities. October’s Homeschool Day theme is Day of the Dead.  On the 3rd kids will experience the Mexican holiday by decorating Sugar Skills, Papel Picado, Ofrenda and paper flowers.  Grades K-3.  Cost: $5 per student; Parents of students free. Homeschool STEAM FUN at the Greenwood Public Library

October 11 at 1pm

Join the staff at the Greenwood Public Library, and have fun learning as we explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts with hands-on learning activities. This program is open to children in grades K-12 and is free but registration is required.

Full Steam Ahead Homeschool Enrichment at Fishers Library

October 23 from 1pm-2pm

Join the Fishers Library in their Children’s Program Room for one of their bimonthly homeschool days. This homeschool day theme is “Wise Old Owl” Science. Join us as we learn all about owls and their amazing hunting abilities.  We will explore the food chain by dissecting owl pellets as well as other fun hands-on activities.  For ages 5 – 13.




Various Homeschooler Classes at Westfield Washington Public Library

In investigating their online calendar we discovered that the Westfield Washington Public Library hosts a variety of homeschooling classes for multiple ages including creative writing, science fair, composition, high school spanish, grammar skills and more. Sessions run $60-100. No mid-year enrollment is allowed. Call {317} 896-9391.
