All camps follow a set of high program standards and are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Limited scholarships are offered based on financial need.

What makes summer camp at Indy Parks and Recreation unique?

Each week of camp provides an unique experience and campers will have an opportunity to enjoy themed activities each week. Each camp is held in a beautiful Indy Parks and Recreation park.

What activities are offered at Indy Parks and Recreation?

Indy Parks provides traditional camps that offer awesome camp activities like swimming, fieldtrips, crafts and games. The nature camps vary week to week but campers will have an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. The arts camp at Garfield Park Arts Center focuses on a different medium each week. This year will be the first year for Bike Camp powered by Nine13Sports at Riverside Park. This camp is about exercise, exploration and empowerment.

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

Indy Parks follows the American Camp Association (ACA) guidelines for all locations. Camper to counselor ratios will vary by age group.

How much time do the campers spend outside?

Indy Parks does enjoy time outside during the summer and each location will vary. All camps have access to indoor space during inclement weather. If you are looking for more of an outdoor experience check out the nature camps at Holliday, Eagle Creek and Southeastway Parks.

Does the camp provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?

The traditional camps do offer lunch.

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?

All Indy Parks Day Camp Counselors have received more than 30 hours of camp programming training prior to camp, and are over the age of 16. All counselors are certified in CPR and First Aid, and have been screened through a complete background and criminal history check. All staff have been selected for their experience, special talents, sensitivity, and creativity.

What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?

Indy Parks has a Therapeutic Manager that is able to meet with parents, the camper and staff to make the best experience for the family and camper. There are inclusion counselors available to assist at the camp site.
