The Nature Academy at Cool Creek invites you to explore the wonders of the natural world! This series of engaging evenings combines social interaction, expert-led presentations, hands-on activities, and outdoor exploration.
Each event begins with social time and refreshments at 6:30 PM, followed by a presentation on a fascinating nature topic. Depending on the subject, participants may engage in hands-on activities like moth watching or seed collecting, or venture outdoors to observe and learn in nature.
August 8: Moth Magic
Amanda Smith, Superintendent of Natural Resources & Education, will speak about moths. During the program, we will have lure bait and lights outside the auditorium to attract moths. After the program, we will explore which moths have joined us for the evening. This program will start late so that we can run into the mothing hours. The presentation will begin at 8:00. Feel free to come and go during the mothing portion of the evening.
Date: Thursday, August 8
Time: 7:30 – 11:00 pm
September 5: Seed Harvesting and Propagation: (AKA: Free Plants!)
