This series combines social time, expert-led presentations and occasional hikes or field trips for participants ages 16 and older. Refreshments are provided at 6:30 p.m. with time to socialize before the speaker begins at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Participants are welcome to attend whenever they can, and do not need to come to every session.
Programs cover a variety of nature topics and are led by guest speakers and park staff. Sessions this season include salamanders, invasive animal species, invasive plants and a bird banding demonstration, with some programs taking place outdoors.
Schedule Highlights
- March 12: Searching for Salamanders with Hoosier Herpetological Society President Jim Horton, followed by a park search. This session begins 30 minutes early. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a flashlight.
- April 2: Invasive Species: Animals, presented by Park Staff.
- May 7: Invasive Species: Plants, presented by representatives from Hamilton County Invasives Partnership.
- June 4: Bird Banding Demonstration with Lina Rifai, Associate Professor of Vertebrate Biology at IU Kokomo. Portions of this program may take place outdoors.
