Head to the Earth Discovery Center to watch the resident education bats wake for an early “breakfast” of crunchy insects and a quick health check. Naturalists share close-up views while explaining how staff care for non-releasable ambassador bats and why they cannot return to the wild. Visitors learn about Indiana’s native bat species, how echolocation works, and the important role bats play in controlling insects and keeping forests healthy.
Expect a calm, indoor program with time for questions. Staff highlight gentle animal care practices and simple ways families can help local bats, from backyard habitat ideas to respectful viewing tips.
Please note, no human food will be provided. Free with park admission, no registration required.
