The Indiana Repertory Theatre\u2019s (IRT) executive artistic director of 20 years, Janet Allen and managing director & COO, Suzanne Sweeney have announced the 2016-2017 season. The nine production season features work on the OneAmerica Mainstage, the Upperstage and the IRT Cabaret. \u201cIRT\u2019s forty-fifth season is filled with hidden gems and blockbusters: \u00a0two new plays, four literary adaptations, a Hitchcock classic, a wacky 60\u2019s farce and a theatrical homage to Indiana\u2019s Bicentennial,\u201d said Allen. \u201cOur goal is to pack in as much diversity as we can in genre, time period, emotional terrain and generational appeal.\u201d The IRT opens its season with\u00a0The Three Musketeers,\u00a0which tells the story of an eager young lad from the provinces who arrives in Paris to join the king\u2019s guard. The world premiere of\u00a0Finding Home: Indiana at 200\u00a0delves into Indiana\u2019s beloved icons and hidden gems, the celebrated and the scandalous, with a bicentennial collection created by writers from all over the state. Featuring songs by Hoosier singer-songwriter Tim Grimm, this multifaceted look at Indiana\u2019s life and times mixes music and history, comedy and drama, fact and fable. Returning to the stage,\u00a0A Christmas Carol\u00a0allows the spirit of Christmas to bring new life to Ebenezer Scrooge in his journey from dark night of the soul to bright joyous morning.
