August Festivals around Indianapolis

August signals the beginning of summer’s end.

But the season’s not over yet! And we’re here to tell you how you can make the most of it.

Mark your calendars with these festivals to get out and about with the family this August and enjoy the last few weeks of warm temperatures, late sunsets, and summer fun.


Indiana State Fair

When: August 2-18
Where: Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1202 E. 38th St, Indianapolis

This year’s theme is Heroes in the Heartland, giving Hoosiers the chance to salute farmers, first responders, teachers, members of the Armed Forces, and more. Join in for another great year of fair food and fun!

German Festival

When: August 3, 5:00 – 10:00pm
Where: German Park, 8600 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis

Enjoy German-inspired music by Jay Fox and the Bavarian Showtime Band and The Liederkranz Brass Band. Kids under 12 are free!

Broad Ripple Carnival

When: August 8-11
Where: Broad Ripple Park, Indianapolis

Celebrate the history of Broad Ripple with activities for the entire family! Featuring carnival rides and games, food and drink, a craft beer garden, live entertainment, a Thursday night community dog walk, and an artisan flea market on Saturday, this is one weekend you won’t want to miss. Dog friendly. Free!

SoundSport International Music & Food Festival

When: August 10, 11:00am
Where: Pan Am Plaza, 201 S. Capitol Ave, Indianapolis

Live performances, DrumLine battles, food trucks, and more await music fans downtown Indy this August. Free!

SausageFest

When: August 16-17, 5:30pm
Where: St. Thomas Aquinas, 4600 N. Kenwood Ave, Indianapolis

Enjoy local food, music, craft beer, and wine at this annual event! Kids and teens can also enjoy a variety of activities just for them. Free!

Circle City Film Festival

When: August 22 – 24, 8:00 – 10:00pm
Where: Georgetown Cinemas, 3898 Lafayette Road, Indianapolis

Film lovers, listen up! The 2nd Annual Circle City Film Festival kicks off August 22 and will feature new panels, workshops, and film screenings.

GreekFest

When: August 23-25
Where: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Carmel

Don’t miss delicious food, live music, traditional dancing, and so much more at the 46th annual running of Indy’s GreekFest. Free!

West Indy Art & Music Festival

When: August 24th, 3:30 – 9:00pm
Where: Meadowood Park, 5700 Meadowood Drive, Speedway

Enjoy a day in the park with local artisan booths, food, and music from several local groups. Bring your blankets, coolers, and chairs and set up camp for great live music starting at 4:00pm. Free!

Feast of Lanterns

When: August 24, 4:00 – 11:00pm
Where: Spades Park, 1800 Nowland Ave, Indianapolis

This historical festival on the Near Eastside of Indy has evolved greatly from its origins in the late 1800s. Today, all are invited to enjoy local food and drinks, live music, kids activities, and genuine community under twinkling lights. Free!

Indy Labor Fest

When: August 31, 11:00am – 6:00pm
Where: Georgia Street, Downtown Indianapolis

All are invited to come together to celebrate working Hoosiers with music, food, beverages, and a kid’s zone in the heart of downtown. Free!
