What is Park Tudor's age\/grade range? We educate children from JK - grade 12. What is your enrollment policy? Are there any key dates parents should be aware of? Our admissions process is designed to get to know your student and your family while offering you opportunities to explore our school. Please note that applications are accepted September to February for the upcoming academic year. Applications received March to August will be considered on a rolling and space available basis. Application requirements vary by division, but in general require completion of an application for admission, testing, and submission of grades and teacher recommendations for students moving from another school. Does Park Tudor offer financial assistance? Yes. In 2020-21, Park Tudor awarded more than $4.1 million in financial aid and merit awards to 35% of our student population. The average amount of a financial aid award was $13,100. Many financial aid options, including payment plans, need-based financial aid and merit scholarships, are available to help families cover the cost of tuition. Awards are granted to families from a variety of financial backgrounds, including those who may have a high level of demonstrated need and those who may require only minimal financial assistance. What are the standard school day hours? School hours vary slightly by division, but in general the day goes from 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. On Wednesdays we have a later start in the morning. Does Park Tudor offer before\/after school care? Does Park Tudor offer afterschool activities? Typically we do offer before and after school care, as well as afterschool activities. Given current COVID-19 restrictions, we are not offering before school care, and aftercare is limited to families with two working parents, single parent families, or families with extenuating circumstances. This year, afterschool care is available until 4:45 p.m., but in a typical year it is available until 6:00 p.m. Is there a uniform or dress code? Uniforms are required in the Lower School, and there is a dress code in Middle and Upper School. How many children attend the school? How many students are in the average classroom? We currently have approximately 905 students enrolled in the school. Average class sizes: Junior & Senior Kindergarten: 15 Lower School (grades 1-5): 17 Middle School (grades 6-8): 15 Upper School (grades 9-12): 13 Does Park Tudor have a homework policy? While we do not have a formal homework policy, our teachers are very thoughtful in how they utilize homework assignments. The research is clear \u2013 the quality of a homework assignment is much more important than the quantity of time it demands from a student. As a result, our teachers are mindful of what they are asking of students outside of class. Our philosophy is that homework should have a clear purpose, target specific areas of growth, and students should receive high-quality feedback on their assignments. It is crucial that homework is part of the learning process, not just an add-on. Does Park Tudor offer support for students with special needs? We do offer Learning Services, including tutoring services, instruction and assistive technology, and when determined appropriate, assessment and feedback. While not every student will require these services, every student benefits from Learning Services resources. Student Learning Services staff help students with topics such as study skills, memory and learning strategies, reading comprehension strategies, test-anxiety management, and use of assistive technology. What specialty classes \/ extracurricular activities does Park Tudor offer (gym, art, language, sports etc.)? We offer a wide variety of specialty classes and extracurricular activities, beginning in Lower School. Spanish is integrated into our Lower School curriculum beginning in Junior Kindergarten, and 100% of Middle and Upper School students study a world language. All students in Middle and Upper School participate in fine arts classes, including music, theatre, art and dance. We also offer a variety of athletic opportunities, with 15 varsity sports and a full participation policy. In addition, a wide variety of 44 clubs offer Upper School students an opportunity to pursue their interests and passions. What are Park Tudor\u2019s safety policies? We have a full-time Director of Safety and Security, along with security officers on site to help keep our campus safe; they conduct a variety of safety drills for students and faculty throughout the year. In addition, we have many policies and training programs in place to help prevent child abuse, bullying and cyber bullying, suicide, and address other safety concerns. What extra safety measures is Park Tudor taking during the COVID-19 pandemic? We have a variety of safety measures in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, which have allowed us to provide full-time, in-person instruction for all of our students. Measures in place include: - Daily health check questionnaire completed by all students, faculty and staff. - Social distancing during classes, lunch, study halls and free periods with desks spaced 6 feet apart. - Wearing of masks inside all buildings and outside when social distancing is not possible. - Frequent hand washing\/hand washing reminders for students. - No assemblies or large gatherings. - Students stay in cohorts as much as possible. - Lunch is served in classrooms.
