The Indianapolis Zoo will be the place to shake a tail feather when two family-friendly concert series returns this summer. Zoolapalooza and Animals and All That Jazz kick off during the July 4 holiday weekend with concerts on both Saturday and Sunday. The series, included with admission, will offer nine evenings of live music, specialty menus, extended Zoo hours and even more wild fun throughout the month. In accordance with the Zoo\u2019s current guidelines for Members and other visitors, all tickets must be purchased and reserved in advance. For the safety of all guests, concerts will be standing room only. Guests are allowed to bring their own chairs but are still encouraged to observe social distancing. The Zoo\u2019s concert season will begin with Animals and All That Jazz, with the smooth sounds of live jazz keeping visitors cool as summer heats up. The July 2 concert has been moved to July 4 to align with the Governor\u2019s \u201cBack on Track\u201d initiative. This popular series will then continue on Thursday nights. Offering a distinctly different music experience, the 33rd year of Animals and All That Jazz will begin July 4 and continue every Thursday through July 30. One of the Zoo\u2019s longest-running events, this series will showcase a diverse lineup of musicians from across the Midwest, covering jazz genres from classic to contemporary and smooth soul to blues, even blending in the more modern sounds of pop and R&B. The 2020 Animals and All That Jazz series will include: July 4: Mid Coast Swing Orchestra July 9: West Central Quintet July 16: Charlie Ballantine Quintet July 23: Cowbell Jazz July 30: Julie Houston with Swing into Rio During Zoolapalooza, guests will enjoy a range of music styles, from rock classics to today\u2019s pop hits plus R&B and even some bluegrass \u2014 all with a toe-tapping energy to get attendees out of their seats for a spin around the dance floor. The 2020 Zoolapalooza series will feature: July 5: Starcat featuring 3 to 1 July 10: Cruise Control July 17: Groove Essential July 24: The Mac Island Band All performances will take place from 5:30-8:30pm under the Bicentennial Pavilion. Located near the Zoo\u2019s entrance, this stunning space offers an open-air atmosphere as well as weather protection \u2014 a perfect place for attendees to relax for an evening of music, rain or shine. Enhancing the concert experience, each night will feature a new food menu, in addition to regular Zoo fare. Adults can also enjoy craft craft cocktails from Hotel Tango and craft beer from a rotating list of Midwest breweries, provided by Zink Distributing. Additional bar options are available to purchase by credit or debit card. In addition to the music, there will be plenty of nearby animal exhibits open until 7pm so that guests can enjoy the full Zoo experience without missing a beat. Summer concert events are free for Zoo members and included with regular admission, so visitors can stay late for the concerts after enjoying a full day at the Zoo.
