More than 20 talented high school students from 16 public, private, and charter schools in central Indiana will perform a fully-staged and orchestrated production of \u201cInto the Woods.\u201d The Summer Stock Stage (SSS) production runs July 25 through July 28 at Marian University Theatre on the Marian University campus. Performances are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. SSS is a premier educational theater group that provides students ages 13 to 19 with an extraordinary performing arts experience. In addition to Indianapolis, performers come from as far away as Crawfordsville and Martinsville. \u201cThese students are some of the best musical theater performers in the area, and many will continue their theater studies in college,\u201d said SSS artistic director Emily Ristine Holloway. \u201cIt is inspiring to see them come together in a professional, collaborative environment to produce an outstanding show.\u201d \u201cInto the Woods\u201d by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim takes everyone\u2019s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece\u2026 and a rare modern classic. The Tony\u00a0Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King\u2019s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch\u2019s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone\u2019s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
